We received an application from a lady called Annie, who was trying to raise funds to help a family, who she felt deserved a break away.
The family has a daughter (24) suffering with leukaemia and during the 2 years leading up to the application, her mum had continued to run a local Guide and Ranger unit, be a swimming coach, Ten Tors manager and Duke of Edinburgh leader, all voluntary, whilst holding down a full time job.
The daughter despite suffering with Leukaemia had continued helping with Guides, taking part in service camps that help local disadvantaged children, she was an active member of the swimming club and also worked full time at the Life Centre. Her sister aged 22 years is also an active member of this family.
The application quoted, “I just feel that so often those that work so hard helping others do not get the recognition they truly deserve, life is really tough for the three of them but they never complain, they just get on with it”.
We were happy to grant this application and gave a donation of £250.00 to add to the funds that Annie had raised herself. We are very pleased that Annie did manage to send the family of three on a weekend Spa break and they had a lovely time, being spoilt and simply enjoying some quality time together.
